Awards and Projects

The recipient of the Garden Club of America's 2006 Zone XI Horticulture Award was our own Vickie Wagner. The award was presented at the Zone XI Meeting in Pewaukee, WI, in August, 2006.

Award winner, Vicky Wagner

The GCA citation reads “In recognition of her outstanding contribution in the field of horticulture within Zone XI, and for her leadership and guidance of GCA members and the Midwest gardening public.”

Vickie is especially deserving of this Award, as she has served as the Chairman of the Chicago Flower and Garden Show, formerly held at Navy Pier in Chicago. In 2006 she won, at that show, “Best in Class, Horticulture” and in 2005 at the show she won “Award of Excellence for Horticulture.” In 2006 she also won a 1st Place Ribbon, Horticulture; a 2nd Place Ribbon, Horticulture; and a 3rd Place Ribbon, Horticulture at the show! As you peruse the “Awards” section of this website, you will also see Vicky's name in several categories, going back to 1995.

Vickie has been a member of the Garden Club of Evanston since 1987 and served as Club President from 1995 until 1997.
